Teaching philosophy
Philosophy of Education My teaching objective is to provide all students with a high-quality education that empowers students to become global thinkers. I strongly believe that it is our duty to educate all students so they can become respectful citizens in their communities. I empower students to explore their creativity, to become knowledgeable about the cultures that make our world, and to help them understand our global community through foreign language.
Positive Learning Community I foster relationships with my students that go beyond a teacher student relationship. It is important that I establish trusting relationships with my students in order to create a spark in student learning and help foster a positive community environment in my classroom. Building an exciting learning community and gaining respect from your students’ motivates them to learn. Fostering this kind of relationship creates trust amongst the members of your learning community. Students learn because of their interest and curiosity in life. My job is to fuel that fire! |
Instructional Strategies To Reach All Learners |
My curriculum is designed to purposefully have a variety of different modalities, instructional and literacy strategies in order to reach all of my students. This includes spending time with the 4 structures of learning a language: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. My teaching uses a variety of instructional strategies for students to progress under the 4 structures by creating instructional goals, methods, materials and assessments that will work for everyone in my classroom. I use TPRS, student and teacher centered learning, authentic realization and comprehensible input strategies to reach my learners. My teaching has flexible approaches that can be adjusted and customized to fit my learner’s needs. I believe that it is important to spend as much time as possible in the target language so that students are constantly engaging and listening to the target language.

Assessments that Reflect Language Ability |
Language acquisition occurs through teaching with comprehensible input. It is important to use relevant and personal student informationto introduce new concepts. Foreign language assessments are designed to show students’ progression in listening, reading, writing and speaking. My assessments vary to coincide with my students’ strengths and weaknesses. My instruction aligns with my assessments so students have a clear understanding of what it means to reach proficiency. My assessments monitor students’ ability to interpret, understand and converse in the target language. It is important to vary assessments just like we vary our instructional strategies to reach all learners. I strongly believe in the educational framework of Universal Design for learning. Every student has the ability to learn and it is my duty to make sure that every student reaches his or her full potential. |
